Dusk's Embrace

Smiling down at me,
There you stood at the threshold,
My shivering shoulders,
In your reassuring clasp you tightly hold.

"Fear not my love,
For faith and endurance I ask,
Worry not my love,
I will come back by dusk."

From sunrise to sunset,
I reminisced your words,
"In vain, you remain upset",
Sang the dulcet distant birds.

Yet here I am waiting for you,
As every dawn goes by,
I await your return,
As each noon journeys by,
I fondly envisage our union,
Everytime the sunset glimmers in my wet eye,
I will eternally wait for you,
In dusk's bitter embrace, said I.
